ENGINEERING A SUCCESSFUL RETIREMENT

  • Duration: Four 3-hour sessions taught over 2 days
  • Class Size: Up to 20 students
  • Target Audience: Employees within 5 years of retirement

This course introduces you to the important topics that affect your planning and transition to retirement. This is not a generic summary of government retirement benefits; there are many courses that cover that. Instead, the topics addressed in this course are centered around personal finance. This course provides a framework to evaluate your own readiness to retire and equips you with the resources to confidently transition to retirement when the time is right for you.

You will be introduced to a wide variety of retirement topics, including the significant advantages of earning a federal retirement, how to save money on taxes, and how to use financial software to simplify retirement planning. In addition, you will discover how to reduce the risks and confidently plan for the retirement you want to live.

For the backstory on what motivated Chuck to teach a retirement course, read the article, “Best Time of Life,” he wrote at HumbleDollar.com.

This is simply the best retirement class I have had with the government. The course was flawless.”

This was an outstanding class and I’m very glad I took it. The perspective and information presented was incredibly helpful, and went well beyond typical “benefits” class.

I enjoyed the class and it got me thinking about other aspects of retirement that I hadn’t really considered. The class will definitely help me with my retirement planning and beyond.

The instructor was knowledgeable, entertaining, and went through the material at a great pace to cover it all thoroughly while also slow enough to allow questions and clarification.”

Chuck was able to share his real-world experience with retirement as opposed to some classes that seem to be focused on getting you to use their financial planning services for a fee.”

He elucidated the areas where analysis could be extremely useful in getting the most out of retirement and then provided tools and techniques for us to do the analysis for ourselves.”

Honestly, was not initially excited about enrolling in this course. Thought it would be a waste of my time, being 3 years out from retirement. I was totally wrong! Immensely beneficial course that I thoroughly enjoyed; did not realize how much I did NOT know, and how unprepared my wife and I are. Somewhat frightening, but I have already reviewed the course notes with my wife, and we have both actively started to make changes that will help us as we edge closer to retirement.”

I have been on cruise control, thinking retirement is a long way off. Not only did this course give me a lot of good info on how to plan for a successful retirement, it got me motivated to be more proactive today.”
